Research[edit] TheWTTCperformsandpublishesresearchinconjunctionwithOxfordEconomicsontheeconomicandsocialimpactofthetravelandtourismindustry.[5]ThefoundationoftheWTTC'sresearchactivityisasetofannuallyproducedTravel&TourismEconomicImpactReports.Theseincludeaglobalreportaswellas24regionaland184countryreports.ThereportscalculatetheeconomicimpactoftheindustryincludingthedirectandtotalGDPimpacts,directandindirectemployment,investment,andexports.[5]UsingmodelsbasedonTourismSatelliteAccounting,thecouncilreportsoneyearandtenyearforecastsfortheseimpacts.[15]ThisresearchisusedbymajorpublicationsincludingForbes[16]andBloombergNews.[17]ItalsosuppliescountryindicatorsfortheTravelandTourismCompetitivenessReport,areportpublishedbytheWorldEconomicForumthatranksselectednationsaccordingtotheTravelandTourismCompetitivenessIndex.[18][19] Summits[edit] DavidScowsillspeakingatthe2013GlobalSummit,AbuDhabi TheWTTCorganisesaglobalsummiteachyear,usuallyheldinApril,witharegionalsummitheldsometimeinthethirdquarter,withupto1,000individualsattendingeachyear.[20]Summitattendanceisbyinvitationonly.
