Modified Peoria System. When a player does not have an established handicap, a hole score selection system, often called the "Peoria System" is used. ModifiedPeoriaSystem Whena playerdoesnothaveanestablishedhandicap,aholescore selectionsystem,oftencalledthe"PeoriaSystem"is used. Underthissystem,aplayerlearnstheirhandicap aftertheroundiscompleted.TheCommitteesecretlyselectsa par-3hole,apar-5holeandfourpar-4holesfroman18-hole course.Thepar-4sshouldberepresentativeinlengthand difficultywithtwochosenfromthefrontnineandtwofrom thebacknine. Amodified Peoriahandicaptheniscalculatedbyaddingtheplayer's strokesoverparonthesixselectedholes,andmultiplying thatnumberby2.8.Thiswillbetheplayer'sallowancetobe deductedfromthegrossscore.Themaximumholescorefor allowancepurposesisthreeoverparonpar-3sand4s,and fouroverparonpar-5s.
