Thesetbackcanalsocontinueorcreateapatternofdevelopmentthatpositivelydefinesthestreetscape.Thespacesbetweenbuildingsmustbedesignedtobeorganisedandcoherent,andnotdeterminedbywhatisleftoveraroundthebuildingform.Rearyardsetbacks The‘backtoback’distancebetweenbuildingsshouldmaximisesunlight,privacyandtheamountofusableopenspace.Alargerearsetbackalsoallowsformoreplanting,includingmaturetrees.
