TheIMFreviseditsprevious2021GDPforecastinAprilforTaiwanfrom4.7%upto5.9%initsWorldEconomicOutlookreporttitled“RecoveringDuringaPandemic”releasedonTuesday(Oct.12).ThenewIMFgrowthestimatesthisyeararesimilartoTaiwan’sDirectorate-GeneralofBudget,AccountingandStatistics(DGBAS)Augustforecastthatthenation’sGDPwouldgrowby5.88%in2021. ThebodyalsoraisedTaiwan’s2022GDPforecastto3.3%,upfromitsAprilpredictionof3%,accordingtoCNA.ThisfigureisslightlylowerthanDGBAS’Augustforecastof3.69%fornextyear. OthereconomicindicatorsinthereportincludedTaiwan’sconsumerpriceindex,usedtomeasureinflation,whichwasprojectedtohit1.6%in2021and1.5%in2022.Meanwhile,thecounty’sunemploymentratewaspredictedtohoveraround3.8%thisyearand3.6%for2022.
